We are all survivors of something. We have all experienced some form of injustice, discrimination, or oppression — and because of that, we all have the capacity to empathize with those who have been victimized. T Ortiz built her life's work on that truth.
An international subject matter expert and activist whose work sits at the intersection of lived experience and long-standing professional practice in anti-trafficking, juvenile justice, and child welfare systems reform.
Raised across communities that shaped her understanding of how systems fail the most vulnerable, T pursued her education with the same tenacity that defines her advocacy. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Morgan State Universitywith a B.S. in Strategic Communication — a degree that proved foundational in her ability to move between the policy table, the courtroom, and the stage.
A two-time Forbes 30 Under 30 nominee, she has provided consultation, training, and technical assistance to federal, state, and non-profit systems across the United States and internationally — advising the United Nations, Google, the U.S. Congress, the White House, the American Bar Association, the Aspen Institute, and the University of Iceland, among others.
My work is proof that survivor-led leadership doesn't just belong in advocacy circles. It belongs everywhere decisions about vulnerable people are made.
T OrtizIn one of her most consequential advocacy wins, T successfully petitioned the Associated Press to change its language guidelines on child sex trafficking, removing terminology that placed blame on victims. The change became the editorial standard for newsrooms across the country — a reform that outlasts any single headline.
